I'm Still Alive - and drawing

This is just a quick note to say that I am going to start keeping this blog up to date. Hopefully I will post something at least every week if not more frequent. I am doing a lot of animal drawing at the momment teaching two classes on animal drawing and spending most of my time at the Zoo. I leave for Florida in a couple of weeks to teach 3 seminars at the Ringling College of Art and Design, this is something I do every year. After Florida I will be in New Jersey and upstate New York teaching at Chris Larson's studio and visiting friends for a couple of weeks, then back to LA teaching. This year I am doing something that I usually do not do, except on my European Sketching tour, teaching a landscape and figure sketching class on location in the Los Angeles area. I will also be teaching my figure drawing class at the American Animation Guild. I leave for Europe on the 1st of June this year.

Fall Private Teaching Schedule

Just a fast note about my fall teaching schedule. The classes listed below are my private Saturday classes. Contact the Animation Guild for my Tuesday class that I will be teaching through the American Animation Institute.

Starting on Sept 8 Figure Drawing and Anatomy 10 class sessions 10 AM to 1 PM $300.

Head drawing 10 Weeks 2 PM to 5 PM $300.
Sept 8, 22, 29, Oct 6, 13, 27, Nov 3, 10, Dec.1, 8

These are Vilppu Private Classes held at the Animation Guild at 4729 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood.


Materials: drawing board, pencils, paper (any size)

These classes are appropriate for artists of any level from beginner to professional as Glenn will give his lecture and demo and then give individual help to each person at his/her own level.

Class Schedule update for LA

This is just a short note about my schedule at the Animation Guild in North Hollywood. I will be teaching my Basic Figure Drawing Class starting on Tuesday September 11th. This class follows my Drawing Manual Chapter by Chapter for 12 weeks. To sign up for this class please call (818) 766 7151 and ask for Lynn. I will be posting my Saturday class schedule as soon as I confirm the dates.

I taught a figure drawing class at Lacoste as part of my artist in residence. This drawing was fairly long for me, about an hour. I used charcoal pencil and conte. The size is around 15 inchs high. The next drawing is of my French female model. We had the same two models for the whole class.

At the moment I am sitting in the studio of Lawrence Marvit watching him work on some large figurative compositions and getting anxious to be back in LA to my own studio. We leave in the morning to take a train to Stockholm.

Eleanor and I are now in Viborg Denmark getting ready to take a train in a couple of days to Stockholm for my seminar. We left Los Angeles on the 10 th of March and will not get back home until the middle of August. I started out teaching in Florida (Ringling School), Lacoste France, I was artist in residence for 8 weeks, then to Italy for our annual sketching tour.

I have been doing a lot of drawing on location of both figures and landscape.
